SSG Format
The Small Sided Game format was implemented during our inaugural 2003 Fall season.
North Texas State Soccer Association (NTSSA) has recommended to existing associations to implement the program throughout the next few years. After talking to several individuals at NTSSA and evaluating costs of changing goal sizes / field sizes we have decided that this new format would benefit us now instead of switching to it next year. As for any new change there will be those people who do not like change. Education is the key to making this format work. Small Sided Games have been used all over the world for decades. Studies have shown that “touches” of the ball throughout the game relate directly to player improvement. So if a team has less players on the field the chances of everyone getting more “touches” greatly increases. Whether you like it or not it is here to stay. We feel that by starting out in this format our association is leading the way for Small Sided Games. Please feel free to check out the sites listed below for more information on Small Sided Games. Remember it is all about the kids!
